June Business After Hours
13 Jun 2019
A beautiful day turned into a beautiful evening as the Independence Chamber of Commerce held their June Business After Hours, held at and sponsored by Country Place Senior Living, 2120 N. 13th St. As guests entered the sunny facility, they were treated to piano music provided by resident Betty Meyer and appetizers courtesy of the Independence Country Club.
Those attending Business After Hours dined and visited until Chamber President Lisa Wilson began the event. "I can't imagine anywhere else I would want to hang out at then this beautiful facility," Wilson said and then shared some events happening around the community including the first 2019 performance of the Independence Children's Summer Theatre, "The Day Aliens Attacked Fairfield," Jun 14 through 16 at the William Inge Theatre on the campus of Independence Community College; Farmer's Market in downtown Saturday from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.; and Teen Downtown Movie Night June 29.
Wilson mentioned the need for donations for the Independence Fireworks Fund. "This has been an Independence tradition for years and Jim Kelly has raised $6,200," she said. "I did the math and here is what you need to know — he still needs $9,450 and if we can find 378 people to give $25 then we have it. Or if we can only find 189 people to give $50, then the job is done."
