Continuing the Community Conversation About Poultry
Wednesday, May 30, 2018
Montgomery County Action Council (MCAC) and Coffeyville Community College will host a follow-up conversation to some commonly asked questions about poultry in southeast Kansas on June 11th from 5:30 -7:30 p.m. at the CCC Student Union. The conversation will focus on water resources in relation to recruiting the poultry industry.
All those wishing to attend must register by June 7th, as limited seating is available. The conversation will be facilitated by K-State Research and Extension staff. Officials from the Kansas Department of Agriculture, Kansas Department of Health & Environment and the Kansas Water Office will be on hand to answer questions. This meeting is open to residents of Montgomery, Labette, Chautauqua, Elk, Wilson, and Neosho counties in Kansas that would like to learn more about the poultry industry.
“We are committed to continual communication about the process of recruiting poultry to our County,” said MCAC Executive Director Trisha Purdon. “We know that there is a lot to learn about this industry, so we have invited experts from the state to help everyone in our region better understand what poultry production could look like in our area. Our goal for this round table conversation and expert panel is to uncover some common questions and allow our state officials to share their research and expertise.”
MCAC is the economic development agency for Montgomery County and serves to develop new industrial projects in the county. MCAC is governed by a Board of Directors that includes both elected officials and business owners throughout the county.
