SBDC May Highlight: Cherryvale’s Laundry
The Kansas Small Business Development Center (KSBDC) is proud to highlight Cherryvale’s Laundry, a locally owned business serving residents throughout the Cherryvale community with dependable, customer-focused service. What began as an idea quickly became a reality with the help of guidance and support from Montgomery County Action Council (MCAC) & their KSBDC partner. As the owners, Sharon White & Reuben Marth, shared, “We had the idea to open the laundromat, just didn’t know what to do after that. We received great advice and guidance.”
Located in downtown Cherryvale, Cherryvale’s Laundry has become more than just a laundromat — it is a welcoming and reliable resource for families, workers, and travelers alike. The business has built a strong reputation for maintaining a clean, safe, and friendly environment while meeting an everyday need within the community. In rural communities, businesses like Cherryvale’s Laundry play an important role in supporting quality of life and strengthening the local economy.
The owners credit much of their positive startup experience to the support they received through the services offered through MCAC & KSBDC. “It was effortless. If we had questions, they had answers. Highly recommend,” they shared when reflecting on their experience. From navigating the early stages of business planning to learning the operational side of running a business, the KSBDC office helped provide the tools and confidence needed to move forward successfully.
Like many small business owners in Southeast Kansas, the team behind Cherryvale’s Laundry understands the perseverance and commitment it takes to build and sustain a business. Their success reflects not only hard work, but also a dedication to continuous improvement and service to their customers. Now celebrating more than two years in business, the owners are proud of what they have accomplished. “We made it through 2 years and are still standing. We continue to strive to be the best,” they said. They also described the KSBDC as “a wealth of information, knowledge and experience.”
The KSBDC is honored to support entrepreneurs like the owners of Cherryvale’s Laundry. Small businesses remain the backbone of rural communities, creating jobs, providing essential services, and contributing to local pride and economic vitality. Cherryvale’s Laundry is a strong example of how determination, community support, and access to quality business resources can help a small-town business thrive.
We appreciate the dedication and hard work shown by Cherryvale’s Laundry and look forward to seeing their continued success in the years ahead.
