Get Ready to Savor a Taste of Montgomery County!

People from across Southeast Kansas and neighboring states will be sampling their way through hard-to-resist menus from dozens of local food and drink vendors during Taste of Montgomery County on August 22nd.

Are you a vendor who would like to participate? There’s still time to get involved, get your name out there and bring in new customers. Even better? We’ll be handing out prizes for fan favorites, giving you plenty of opportunities for bragging rights.

Hosted by the Montgomery County Action Council (MCAC), this vital fundraiser can also be further supported by your sponsorship, which includes varying levels ranging from $250 to $1,000.

A Full Day of Community + Celebration 

Taste of Montgomery County will also feature exciting games, fun raffles, an auction (which is also a great opportunity for in-kind donations) and live music the whole family can enjoy, including:

1:00 - 3:00 p.m. 
Mark Stansbury
A native of Indianapolis, Mark’s classic country/Americana notes have been heard floating through venues across the state.

4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
The Big Swing Band
Lafayette's beloved, 18-piece big band brings the music of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Benny Goodman, and Glen Miller back into swing.

7:00 - 9:00 p.m.
Common Ground
They’re known for bringing the party! Get ready for one of Indy’s premiere cover bands as they rock the stage with all of your favorite dance tunes from the 1960s to today’s Top 40.

“Every year, we look forward to seeing people from around the region coming out in support of this amazing event,” said Melissa Johnson, Executive Director of MCAC. “It’s a way for us to give back to the community and also promote our amazing business owners.” 

A Taste of History

Years ago, the grounds on which the event takes place were part of General Lew Wallace’s back yard, a few steps from his home on Wabash Avenue.

On the same grounds where hundreds of folks gather each year to sip and savor was once the backyard of General Lew Wallace. Throughout the late 1870s, he would place his rocking chair under the cool, peaceful shade of a towering beech tree, penning the epic manuscript for Ben-Hur; a book that would go on to become one of the most best-selling novels of all time.

Taste of Montgomery County is the largest annual fundraiser for the General Lew Wallace Study & Museum, which draws thousands of visitors every year who want to see the architecturally stunning building once described by Wallace as “a pleasure house for my soul.”

Advance tickets for Taste of Montgomery County will be available beginning in early August at can be purchased at the Carriage House of the General Lew Wallace Study and Museum, as well as:

• Montgomery County Visitors and Convention Bureau 
• Milligan’s Flowers & Gifts
• Crawfordsville Parks & Recreation Community Center

Presale tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for students. Tickets at the gate are $8 for adults and $3 for students. Children 6 and under are free.
