Celebrate National Agriculture Day With These Valuable Montgomery County Businesses
March 1, 2024
March 19 is National Ag Day, which is organized by the Agriculture Council of America (ACA). Since 1973, this day (and the month of March as a whole) has been used to honor the people who produce food and fiber products in the United States. Agriculture plays an essential role in the Montgomery County economy. The crops produced by local farmers – and the vendors who support them – help feed the nation while creating jobs for local residents. Montgomery County Action Council (MCAC) loves our agriculture members and wants them to thrive.
To celebrate National Ag Day, MCAC is spotlighting a few local businesses that move agriculture forward in our area. Here are five local vendors who support our farmers.
Bartlett Grain in Cherryvale
One of the leading soybean processors in the United States is located in Montgomery County. Bartlett, A Savage Company, will be able to process 45 million bushels of soybeans annually and will bring 50 permanent jobs to the region once it is fully operational. The company expects to start processing soybeans produced by local farmers in early 2024.
Soybeans are an essential part of American agriculture. They are used in a variety of recipes, are turned into vegetable oil, can be used as animal feed, and provide a renewable alternative to transportation fuel.
Bartlett Grain expects to partner with several agriculture businesses in Montgomery County and surrounding areas.
