ABC Coffeyville Provides 24-Hour Childcare to Support Montgomery County Families

May 28, 2025

Childcare is an essential part of economic development. When parents have affordable, flexible daycare services, they can enter the workforce and support their families. Local employers in Montgomery County, Kansas, have multiple daycare options, with one unique facility increasing its service hours.

ABC Coffeyville will soon provide 24-hour childcare. This allows parents with non-traditional schedules to leave their kids at a safe place with trusted professionals.

“We are eager to switch to 24-hour care to meet the childcare needs of the families in

Montgomery County and the surrounding areas,” says Sharon Brown, founder of ABC Coffeyville. “If we are available to provide childcare, parents can work at the hours businesses need them to work. This will provide a larger workforce for businesses that are open evenings, overnight, or early mornings.”

ABC Coffeyville Supports 100 Children From Infants to 6th Grade

ABC Coffeyville is opening a new center accommodating up to 100 children at a time. It is licensed by the state of Kansas, and all employees must pass a background check and have experience in child growth and development, health and nutrition, learning experiences, first aid, and CPR. Preschool and Pre-K are included with childcare for ages 3-5.

“ABC teachers love our kids and love to teach and care for them,” says Brown. “Our Pre-K teachers keep up to date with requirements to ensure the kids are more than ready for kindergarten.”

ABC Coffeyville also plans to provide transportation for elementary students to and from school, so parents do not have to worry about bus schedules or the carpool line while they are at work.

“Not every parent works a traditional nine-to-five job, and it’s important that our childcare offerings reflect the needs of every family in the community,” says Melissa Johnson, Executive Director of  Montgomery County Action Council (MCAC). “We are excited that ABC Coffeyville is expanding its offerings and know that it will play an important role in bringing new residents to Montgomery County.”

ABC Coffeyville accepts DCF (Department for Children and Families) and Delaware Tribal Subsidies.

ABC Coffeyville Supports the Next Generation of Montgomery County

It’s easy to get caught up in the parental benefits of flexible childcare when discussing preschool and economic development. However, there are also long-term community benefits when kids have access to quality care in their developmental years. Little learners who develop a curiosity about the world around them and are exposed to concepts like letters and numbers before they enter kindergarten are more likely to succeed in school. Even older children who receive care from ABC Coffeyville can learn and participate in educational activities.

“It is so rewarding to watch a child get excited about learning something new!” says Brown. “These children are our next generation. We realize the importance of caring for them and providing the building blocks they need for life.”

When one-parent or two-parent households need care, they often turn to family, friends, and neighbors. These helpers might not always be available, safe, or qualified to care for small children. Not only does ABC Coffeyville provide a safe place for kids, but it also offers a healthy environment where kids can explore, learn, and grow.

ABC Coffeyville is a Faith-Based Center

ABC Coffeyville is a Christian childcare center where kids will hear stories from the Bible. It is non-denominational and does not focus on any church doctrine.

“Steve and I run a child care center because we know God wants us to provide a safe
place where teachers love to teach and children love to learn,” says Brown. “We realize the importance of caring for them and providing the building blocks they need for life.”
